Pearls don't lie on the shore. You have to dive for them.

Our Christmas coffee Perlbohne: dense and unique - just like the year 2021.

Perlen liegen nicht am Strand. Du musst schon tauchen gehen.

And another year is almost over! – 2021 was one of the more turbulent years, one might say. We all long for more serenity and freedom.
The pandemic and the looming effects of climate change are challenging us and, in some cases, causing considerable uncertainty.

But despair won't help. Every century has presented humanity with its trials – and we're still here. It's up to us to rise to the challenges and make the most of our brief time on this earth. This summer also brought devastating news for the coffee world: a 30% drop in harvests in Brazil.

This country and its coffee will face challenges in the coming years. Climate change will increasingly likely alter coffee cultivation here significantly. This means that Brazilian coffee varieties will also change. Must this have negative consequences for quality? We don't necessarily think so. It will certainly be different – like so much else.

That's why we chose Brazil for our Christmas coffee this year!
This is meant to be a tribute to this traditional coffee country. We've fallen in love with Jaguara's peaberries! The cup profile is a classic from Brazil: creamy, raisin-sweet, with notes of praline and dark chocolate. Simple and particularly good as an espresso. A strong endorsement of the present. What are peaberries and why are they different? Usually, there are two beans (coffee beans) in a cherry. Peaberries, on the other hand, are single beans. They make up about 5-10% of a harvest. They are easily recognizable by their rounded shape – unlike the flattened shape of "normal" coffee beans. As individual beans, peaberries receive twice the energy and nutrients. Whether this is the reason for their extraordinary aroma and flavor profile is, to be honest, unknown. They are sorted and grouped together after harvesting, a huge amount of work – but it pays off. The unique density of aromas and sweetness is the reward. And this sensory wellness program is just the thing for the end of this year. Let's sit back, enjoy, and smile confidently towards the future: we will master the next year too – more experienced and perhaps even better than ever before! Happy New Year!
